Asayish say Turkish drone targets security post, hospital in Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, stated late Tuesday that two powerful explosions rocked the city, despite the difficult conditions facing the region and ongoing efforts to de-escalate and enforce a ceasefire aimed at finding peaceful solutions and protecting civilians.
According to the statement, a Turkish drone carried out an attack shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 21, targeting a security post belonging to the Internal Security Forces in the Oweija neighborhood of Qamishli.
The statement added that the same drone later carried out a second strike, bombing the parking area of the Heart and Eye Hospital in the city.
The two attacks caused significant material damage at the targeted sites, the statement said, without providing further details on potential casualties.
The Internal Security Forces stressed that the attacks occurred at a time when intensive efforts are underway to reduce tensions and stabilize a ceasefire.
It called for the protection of civilians and service facilities, underscoring the need to adhere to de-escalation measures and to prevent the targeting of populated areas.
