SDF commits to ceasefire with Syrian government in Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Ministry of Defense issued on Tuesday separate statements confirming their commitment to a ceasefire, following recent agreements reached in Damascus. The move aims to reinforce calm and pave the way for political dialogue in Hasakah governorate.
In its statement, the SDF declared full adherence to the ceasefire agreed upon with the Syrian government, emphasizing that it will not initiate any military action unless its forces come under attack.
The statement also highlighted the SDF’s openness to political negotiations and dialogue, and its readiness to implement the January 18 agreement to support stability in the region.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense similarly announced the suspension of all military operations, stating that the ceasefire would begin at 8:00 PM local time on Tuesday and last for four days, in line with the understanding reached with the SDF
The SDF and Syrian government have previously engaged in discussions over administrative and security arrangements in Hasakah, including the integration of SDF forces and civil institutions into the state framework.
