SDF, YPJ repel Damascus-linked attack on Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Tuesday that their fighters, alongside the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), successfully repelled an attack launched by Damascus-affiliated factions on the Qaraqozaq Bridge axis south of Kobani.

In a statement, the SDF confirmed that the assault was “completely foiled,” forcing the attacking groups to retreat and withdraw from the area.

The forces added that the attackers sustained “heavy losses in their ranks” during the clash, while SDF and YPJ units maintained their defensive positions along the frontline.

Qaraqozaq Bridge has been a recurrent point of tension amid ongoing military pressure from forces aligned with Damascus in northern and eastern Syria.

The SDF did not report any immediate casualties among its fighters, but reiterated its readiness to confront further attacks in the Kobani countryside.

Local sources have warned that renewed military activity in the area threatens civilian movement and stability along key transit routes south of the city.
