HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A security source at Hawl Camp in Hasakah, NE_Syria, said on Tuesday that the camp remains under the full control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), amid growing security threats.

The source told North Press that there are ongoing attempts by Damascus-affiliated factions to attack the camp with the aim of releasing Islamic State (ISIS) members and their families held inside.

According to the source, camp authorities have contacted the U.S.-led Global Coalition and provided precise GPS coordinates related to the threats, but no action has yet been taken.

Hawl Camp houses tens of thousands of people, including ISIS suspects and their families, and has long been considered one of the most sensitive security sites in northeastern Syria.

Local authorities have repeatedly warned that any breach of security at the camp could lead to serious humanitarian and security repercussions, both locally and internationally.
