Erdogan says Aleppo developments open door to implement March 10 Agreement

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that recent developments in Syria’s Aleppo province present a historic opportunity to implement the March 10 Agreement, stressing Ankara’s determination to push the process forward.

Erdogan’s remarks came during a meeting of his party’s Central Executive Board (MYK) at the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

“The recent developments in Aleppo constitute a historic opportunity for the implementation of the March 10 agreement,” Erdogan said, without providing further details on the mechanisms or timeline.

He underscored Turkey’s commitment to continuing its efforts in this direction, warning against actions that could inflame tensions.

“We cannot allow the brotherhood between Turks, Arabs, and Kurds to be broken,” he added. “We must manage this process with sensitivity and remain vigilant against provocations.”

Erdogan’s comments come amid heightened tensions in Aleppo’s Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, which have witnessed repeated clashes and shelling in recent weeks.

Fighting erupted following attempts by Syrian government-aligned forces to advance toward the neighborhoods, prompting armed confrontations with the Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish).

The violence has resulted in civilian casualties, damage to residential areas, and restrictions on movement and media access, drawing condemnation from rights groups and local actors.
