Asayish say child killed, another injured in Aleppo’s Dayr Hafir shelling
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced late Friday that a child was killed and another injured after areas of Dayr Hafir in Aleppo eastern countryside were shelled by factions affiliated with the Syrian transitional government’s Ministry of Defense.
In a statement, Asayish said the factions targeted Dayr Hafir with heavy artillery, with at least one shell striking a civilian home.
“The shelling resulted in the killing of a young girl and the serious injury of another child, according to preliminary information, after residential houses were directly targeted,” the statement read.
The Asayish added that several artillery shells also hit the city’s main power station, causing a complete electricity blackout across Dayr Hafir.
“This constitutes a clear violation targeting vital infrastructure and basic services on which civilians depend in their daily lives,” the forces said.
The forces held the Syrian transitional government fully responsible for what they described as a crime against civilians.
The Asayish called on the international community, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by taking immediate action to halt the ongoing violations, protect civilians, and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
