Syrian president holds phone call with Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa held on Friday a phone call with Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani to discuss the latest political developments in Syria and regional changes, according to Kurdish media outlet Rudaw.
The report said the two leaders emphasized the importance of stability and joint coordination in the region.
President al-Sharaa affirmed that “the Kurds are an integral and essential component of the Syrian people,” stressing the Syrian state’s full commitment to guaranteeing all national, political, and civil rights for Kurds and other components in Syria equally and without discrimination.
Barzani expressed appreciation for al-Sharaa’s vision, voicing support for the will and aspirations of Syrians to build an inclusive state that brings together all parties and communities as equal partners.
He further underlined the need to continue consultation and coordination in ways that safeguard the interests of all sides and protect civil peace.
