SDF, Coalition arrest 7 ISIS suspects in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in coordination with the U.S.-led Global Coalition, arrested on Saturday seven ISIS members during security operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that Coalition forces and SDF units raided the Latwa neighborhood on the outskirts of Diban town, where a curfew was imposed during the operation.
The source said the joint forces arrested four ISIS members following what he described as a “precise security operation” based on surveillance, tracking, and intelligence cooperation between the SDF and the Coalition.
In a separate operation, SDF patrols carried out at dawn on Saturday a security raid in the town of Susah, also in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals wanted on charges of affiliation with the Islamic State group.
According to the source, the operations come as part of ongoing efforts by the SDF to dismantle ISIS sleeper cells and prevent the group from reorganizing in the region.
Despite losing territorial control in Syria, ISIS continues to carry out attacks and maintain clandestine networks, particularly in parts of Deir ez-Zor, prompting frequent security campaigns by the SDF with Coalition backing.
