Asayish dismantle 43 criminal cells, including 23 ISIS cells, in 2025 in NE Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) revealed on Wednesday the results of their security operations for 2025, announcing the dismantling and arrest of members of 43 criminal cells, including 23 cells affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS), as well as the defusal of 57 explosive devices.
Speaking at a press conference held in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, the Asayish said that 146 security raids were carried out during the year in coordination between Internal Security departments, resulting in the arrest of 320 individuals wanted in connection with various security cases.
Regarding homicide and assault crimes recorded in 2025, the Asayish reported 149 cases of premeditated murder, leading to the arrest of 214 suspects, in addition to 189 attempted murder cases in which 220 suspects were detained.
The Asayish also recorded 56 suicide cases during the year, with 15 individuals arrested in connection with these incidents.
According to the Asayish, security forces handled 191 cases of document and currency forgery, resulting in the arrest of 256 suspects, as well as 75 cases of identity impersonation, with 79 individuals detained.
The forces also dealt with 81 fraud and scam cases, leading to the arrest of 110 suspects.
In relation to theft-related crimes, the Asayish said that 1,175 theft cases were registered, during which 1,721 suspects were arrested. Additionally, 82 armed robbery cases resulted in the arrest of 137 suspects, while 79 kidnapping cases led to the detention of 158 individuals.
The statement further noted that security forces handled 58 cases involving rape and prostitution, with 126 suspects arrested, as well as 25 administrative corruption cases that led to the detention of 58 individuals.
In the field of antiquities protection, the Asayish recorded 61 cases of illegal excavation and trafficking of antiquities, resulting in the arrest of 147 suspects.
Drug enforcement was described as one of the key pillars of security work in 2025. The Asayish reported 327 drug trafficking cases with 643 arrests, 456 drug distribution cases resulting in 893 arrests, and 2,070 drug use cases in which 2,798 individuals were detained.
According to the statement, the total number of detainees in drug-related cases alone reached 4,334 individuals, including traffickers, dealers, and users.
In addition, the Asayish recorded 758,627 traffic violations during 2025, as part of efforts to regulate traffic and reduce road accidents.
