Global Coalition strikes ISIS targets in Deir ez-Zor desert
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The U.S.-led Global Coalition forces carried out on Monday evening airstrikes, targeting sites belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS) in the western desert of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source inside the Shaddadi base, south of Hasakah, told North Press that Coalition forces fired two missiles from the base at ISIS positions in the Deir ez-Zor countryside.
The Shaddadi base hosts units from the Global Coalition alongside forces from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The source said the missiles struck ISIS sites in the Deir ez-Zor desert, without providing details on casualties or material damage.
He added that the strikes come as part of an ongoing campaign by the Coalition to pursue and dismantle active ISIS cells across the Syrian Desert, particularly following recent operations in the Palmyra area earlier this month.
