ISIS claims responsibility for killing SDF member in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility on Wednesday for killing a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, through its affiliated media channels.
ISIS-affiliated media outlet, Amaq News Agency, said in a statement that its militants targeted an SDF member with machine guns in the village of Sabha, in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
Earlier in the day, a military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that one of its members was killed in an attack carried out by unknown gunmen, believed to be affiliated with ISIS.
According to the statement, the attack resulted in the immediate death of the SDF member, while the gunmen withdrew from the area without casualties.
The claim comes a day after the SDF announced that it had dismantled an ISIS cell in the town of Diban, also in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
