Gunmen kill ex-contractor for Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A former contractor for Iranian-backed militias was shot dead on Sunday night by unidentified gunmen in the city of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A local source told North Press that armed men driving a vehicle stormed the home of 36-year-old Mohammed al-Ghouri in the al-Ardi neighborhood in central Deir ez-Zor.

“The gunmen opened fire on him in front of his family, killing him instantly,” the source said.

Al-Ghouri, originally from Hama, had been living in Deir ez-Zor for more than thirteen years after being displaced from his hometown. He previously worked as a procurement agent for Iranian-backed militias operating in the area.
