SDF captures ISIS member in joint operation with Coalition in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) captured on Tuesday a member of the Islamic State (ISIS) during a joint security operation conducted with the U.S.-led Global Coalition in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that the SDF, with both air and ground support from the Global coalition, carried out two airdrop and raid operations targeting two houses in the al-Zalzala neighborhood in the center of Marrat village in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

He added that the SDF successfully captured Sediq Youssef al-Zughair, an ISIS member, after collecting intelligence on his activities and movements in the region.

The source noted that the second airdrop operation targeted another suspect; however, the individual managed to escape during the landing and fled toward areas controlled by forces of the Syrian transitional government west of the Euphrates River.
