Child wounded in bomb explosion in east Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A 13-year-old boy was injured on Sunday when a bomb detonator exploded in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, a local source reported.
The injured boy, identified as Mohammed Mahmoud al-Awad al-Ali, was wounded in an explosion that occurred in the Hawi Mahkan area, east of Deir ez-Zor. According to medical sources, he was transferred to al-Mayadin Hospital to receive necessary treatment, though his medical condition remains unclear.
Explosions caused by remnants of war continue to claim victims across Syria, particularly in the eastern regions, where large areas remain contaminated with unexploded ordnance left from years of conflict involving various military actors.
According to humanitarian reports, dozens of civilians across Syria are killed or injured each month due to remnants of war, including mines, improvised explosive devices, and other unexploded munitions. Many of the victims are children who come across these remnants while playing or tending livestock in open fields.
Local health officials confirmed that the injured boy remains under medical supervision, and his family has been informed of his condition. Authorities urge residents to avoid suspicious objects and report any findings to local security forces
