Coalition discusses stability, security in Deir ez-Zor with al-Baggara figures
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A delegation from the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS met with Sheikh Amir Hajem al-Bashir, leader of the al-Baggara tribe, and members of the tribal council in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, a source said on Sunday.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous and attended the meeting, told North Press that both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination to improve living and service conditions in the region, in partnership with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The source added that the meeting – took place on Oct. 17 – comes within ongoing efforts to support stability and strengthen dialogue with local communities, emphasizing the vital role of tribal leaders in maintaining security and stability in Deir ez-Zor.
