DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar’a met on Monday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha, Qatar.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Syria and Turkey as well as regional issues, according to media reports.
President Erdoğan was accompanied by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organization chief İbrahim Kalın, while Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani attended alongside President al-Shar’a.
Erdoğan emphasized that “Al-Shar’a’s participation in this month’s UN General Assembly holds historic significance, and Turkey will continue its support for Syria, working together to strengthen bilateral relations.”
He added that Turkey is “striving to bring together different parties in Syria, highlighting the importance of maintaining Syria’s unity and cohesion, and ensuring that the Syrian Democratic Forces comply with the March 10 agreement.”
