A North Press source who attended a meeting in Aleppo said on Friday that representatives from the Syrian government and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) held talks on Thursday to discuss mechanisms to reduce tension in the Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods and to continue implementing the April 1 agreement.

The source said the meeting brought together officials from the Autonomous Administration, a military officer from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and a government delegation composed of officers and official representatives.

The discussions focused on recent developments in Aleppo, particularly the movements and reinforcements of government forces around the two neighborhoods, as well as ways to ensure the ongoing implementation of the previous agreement.

According to the source, the meeting also addressed the formation of joint committees from both sides to monitor the agreement’s execution on a regular and systematic basis.

Participants reportedly agreed to halt escalation, stop the buildup of government forces around Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh, end the current tension, and hold regular committee meetings to follow developments and stabilize the area.
