Syrian FM meets Israeli delegation in Paris to discuss southern Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met on Tuesday with an Israeli delegation in the French capital to discuss a range of issues related to southern Syria, state-run news agency SANA reported.

The discussions reportedly focused on de-escalation measures, non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, and reaching understandings aimed at supporting regional stability.

Talks also addressed monitoring the ceasefire in Suwayda and reactivating the 1974 disengagement agreement, according to SANA.

SANA added that the meetings were held under U.S. mediation as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen security and stability in Syria while safeguarding the country’s unity and territorial integrity.

On Aug. 12, al-Shaibani met in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack. That meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation among the three parties, support the Syrian government’s efforts to consolidate the Suwayda ceasefire, and work toward a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
