Germany Confirms Ongoing Humanitarian Aid to Syria in 2025

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The German Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that Berlin will continue providing humanitarian support to Syria, allocating over €80 million in assistance since the beginning of 2025.

Annika Clasen Edris, the ministry’s official spokesperson, announced the commitment in a statement released on World Humanitarian Day. She said that despite growing international challenges, Germany remains among the largest global donors of humanitarian aid.

“The need for assistance in Syria remains immense,” Edris wrote in a post on the social platform X, highlighting that Germany has channeled the latest funds directly to United Nations agencies and partner non-governmental organizations. These contributions aim to secure food, shelter, and healthcare for Syrians in urgent need.

According to the German Foreign Ministry, the country provided approximately €220 million in humanitarian aid to Syria in 2024. This year’s allocations continue that policy, targeting essential relief efforts amid worsening economic conditions and humanitarian concerns.

The ministry emphasized that humanitarian engagement remains a top priority in Germany’s foreign policy. Officials stressed that the aid is intended to reach the most vulnerable communities through reliable international channels, ensuring that relief is delivered effectively and transparently.

Humanitarian organizations working inside Syria have long underscored the importance of international assistance in alleviating hardships caused by years of conflict and economic deterioration. Germany’s continued financial commitment is expected to support ongoing UN-led operations across different regions of the country.

The Foreign Ministry added that Berlin will maintain close coordination with its partners to ensure aid delivery meets urgent needs, while also reinforcing its broader commitment to humanitarian principles worldwide.
