Joint meeting in Jordan Tuesday to discuss Syria’s situation
AMMAN, Jordan (North Press) – Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Amman will host a tripartite meeting between Jordanian, Syrian, and U.S. officials on Tuesday, aimed at discussing developments in Syria and ways to support its stability.
In an official statement, the ministry said the gathering will focus on “supporting the process of rebuilding Syria on foundations that ensure its security, stability, and sovereignty, fulfill the aspirations of its brotherly people, and safeguard the rights of all Syrians.”
The meeting is set to include Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barak, and representatives from relevant institutions of the three countries. Jordan’s foreign ministry noted that the discussions will build on talks held in Amman on July 19, 2025, which centered on securing a ceasefire in the southern governorate of Suwayda and addressing the crisis in that area.
The July meeting in Amman was part of a broader regional effort to reduce tensions and prevent renewed violence in southern Syria, where fragile truces have been challenged by sporadic clashes and political unrest.
Although the ministry did not detail the full agenda, the statement underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue to protect the rights of all Syrians and restore stability. Local observers note that such diplomatic channels are seen as essential in reducing humanitarian pressure across the country, especially in areas facing security and governance challenges.
