Syria, Turkey launch economic council to strengthen bilateral ties

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry in the transitional government, Muhammad Nidal al-Shaar, signed on Tuesday a protocol with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat to establish the “Syrian-Turkish Economic Cooperation Council” in Ankara.

The two ministers met in the Turkish capital to explore ways of strengthening economic ties and developing joint initiatives between Syria and Turkey.

According to state-run SANA news agency, al-Shaar arrived in Ankara on Monday at the head of an economic delegation.

During the visit, both delegations are set to discuss mechanisms for deepening economic collaboration and coordinating efforts to support the industrial and commercial sectors in ways that serve the shared interests of both nations.

The multi-day visit by the Syrian delegation comes at the invitation of Bolat and is part of ongoing efforts to broaden bilateral cooperation across various economic fields.
