Suspected ISIS attack in Deir ez-Zor leaves 3 casualties   

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two people, including a member of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), were killed and a third injured on Thursday in a shooting carried out by unidentified gunmen in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, eastern Syria.

A local source from the town of al-Sha’fa reported that two masked assailants on a motorcycle ambushed a van traveling along the main road in the town.

The gunmen opened fire on the vehicle’s occupants before fleeing the scene.

The attack resulted in the killing of two individuals, one of whom was identified as Mohammed al-Sayyad, an Asayish officer. The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries and was taken for medical treatment.

According to the same source, the attackers shouted slogans in support of the Islamic State (ISIS), raising concerns about the group’s continued presence and activity in the region.
