Mass displacement of Bedouin families from Syria’s Suwayda
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Dozens of Bedouin families were displaced on Thursday from the outskirts of Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria, following the withdrawal of Syrian security forces from the area amid escalating unrest.
The withdrawal led to a wave of violations and attacks targeting Bedouin residents in rural areas of the governorate. With no formal security presence remaining, local armed factions have assumed control of the region.
Government media outlets reported large-scale displacement from Suwayda’s outskirts, particularly in the southwestern part of the governorate.
Social media platforms circulated photos and videos showing families fleeing with whatever belongings they could carry—some on foot, others transporting furniture and essentials in trucks.
