Armed attack in Deir ez-Zor injures 2 Asayish members
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Wednesday that two of their members were injured in an armed attack carried out by unidentified assailants in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.
According to an official statement, the attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the village of al-Hissan when unknown gunmen opened fire on one of the force’s vehicles as it was passing through the area.
The assailants, reportedly riding a motorcycle, directly targeted the vehicle, wounding one male and one female member of the Asayish. The injured personnel were promptly taken to receive medical treatment.
In its statement, the Asayish held parties promoting hate speech and incitement against the institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) morally responsible for the attack.
The force affirmed its continued commitment to defending the region and protecting the lives of its residents without hesitation.
The Asayish also urged residents across northeastern Syria to report any suspicious movements or activities that may threaten the region’s security and stability.
