Clashes in Syria’s Suwayda result in 137 casualties
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – A total of 137 people were killed or wounded on Tuesday in the southern Syrian city of Suwayda, as intense clashes continued throughout the day.
A source from the Suwayda Health Directorate told North Press that 15 people have been confirmed dead so far, including an unidentified man and woman, and at least 107 others have been injured since the early morning hours.
Earlier, the National Hospital in Suwayda issued an urgent appeal for all medical personnel to report to the facility immediately due to overwhelming pressure caused by the influx of casualties.
Ongoing shelling in the city has also led to the displacement of many residents, as fighting escalated across multiple neighborhoods.
The source added that the hospital is struggling to cope due to a severe shortage of medical staff, prompting administrators to issue an emergency call for support.
In a related development, local sources reported that 15 members of the al-Radwan family were either killed or injured after armed individuals stormed the family’s guesthouse and opened fire indiscriminately.
The sources described several of the injuries as critical, noting that some victims cannot be treated due to the ongoing violence and the heavy military presence across the city.
