Israeli forces withdraw after incursion into southern Syria
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli military force withdrew on Sunday after infiltrating at dawn the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that “Israeli troops raided three homes in the town of Ein Ziwan, conducting searches without providing any explanation, before withdrawing without making any arrests.”
The source added that a separate Israeli unit entered the village of Suwaysah, opening heavy fire, which triggered panic among residents, particularly women and children.
So far, neither the Syrian transitional government nor the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), which is deployed in the area, has issued any statements regarding the latest Israeli incursion.
Quneitra has witnessed repeated Israeli incursions in recent weeks, almost on a daily basis, resulting in dozens of arrests, including of minors. The reasons behind these operations and detentions remain unclear.
