Multiple armed attacks target SDF in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several armed attacks were carried out on Saturday evening by unidentified assailants targeting the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source close to the SDF told North Press that a checkpoint in the town of Abu Hamam came under attack with a rocket-propelled grenade and automatic gunfire. The assault triggered intermittent clashes, ultimately forcing the attackers to retreat.
The same source reported that a separate incident occurred in Abu Hamam the same evening, where a vehicle of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) was targeted. No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
In a third incident, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on an SDF military checkpoint along the main road in the town of al-Hariji, north of Deir ez-Zor. The attack caused only material damage.
Additionally, clashes erupted between SDF personnel and unidentified individuals following a dispute over a smuggling route connecting the towns of Daranj and al-Asharah.
The confrontation resulted in the closure of the route, with no reported injuries but some material damage.
