Aleppo security forces arrest former member of pro-Assad militia

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Security forces in Aleppo city, northwestern Syria, arrested on Thursday a former member of the pro-Assad National Defense Forces (NDF) on charges related to human rights violations.

According to the Syrian Interior Ministry, the security forces apprehended Abdul Rahman Dahrouj, who is accused of committing abuses against civilians during his time with the regime-affiliated militia.

The ministry stated that Dahrouj appeared in a 2020 video during a military campaign on the northern frontlines, in which he was seen exhuming graves in a village formerly under al-Assad regime control.

He has been referred to the competent judiciary for further investigation and legal action, the statement added.
