DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two people were killed on Tuesday in separate landmine explosions caused by remnants of war in central and eastern Syria.
In Deir ez-Zor, a local source reported that a landmine exploded near an Iranian-backed militia outpost in the al-Tebni desert, west of the city, killing a young man identified as Abdul Razzaq Oweid.
According to the source, Oweid had been collecting scrap metal in the area when the device detonated, killing him instantly.
In a separate incident in the town of Mahin, in the eastern countryside of Homs, 16-year-old Youssef al-Faddous was killed after stepping on a landmine while herding sheep on the town’s outskirts.
