Syria, Israel near peace deal by end of 2025, report says
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syria and Israel are nearing a peace agreement, expected to be signed before the end of 2025, Israeli Channel 12 reported on Friday.
The channel quoted a Syrian source as saying that the agreement envisions a gradual Israeli withdrawal from all Syrian territories it entered on Dec. 8, 2024.
According to Channel 12, the deal also proposes transforming the Golan Heights into a “a garden for peace,” a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of a new era of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
As of yet, there has been no official comment from either the Israeli or Syrian governments regarding the reported agreement.
Israel captured several areas in southern Syria following the fall of the al-Assad regime, including parts of the buffer zone established under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, as well as areas in the Quneitra countryside and Mount Hermon.
