SDF arrests member of foreign-linked cell in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday the arrest of a member of a cell linked to foreign intelligence agencies during a recent security operation in the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

In an official statement, the SDF said the operation was carried out on Sunday in the city of Hasakah, following extensive surveillance of Manhal Abbas al-Ali, also known as Abu Mutab.

After gathering sufficient intelligence on his activities, SDF units located his hideout, secured the area, and successfully apprehended him.

The statement revealed that the cell, of which al-Ali was a member, was involved in armed robbery, intimidation of civilians, and shooting in residential areas to sow fear and disrupt public order.

Additionally, the group had targeted military positions with the intent of undermining security, destabilizing the region, and threatening civil peace.
