Coalition says troop repositioning in NE Syria aims to degrade ISIS
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S.-led Global Coalition announced on Tuesday that the repositioning of its forces in northeast Syria is part of “a deliberate and conditions-based process.”
In a statement, the Coalition said the move is intended to degrade the capabilities of the Islamic State (ISIS) and strengthen regional stability.
“The US remains poised to further degrade Daesh capabilities in Syria, including through strikes against Daesh remnants.”
It noted that the operation contributes to advancing long-term security and stability in northeastern Syria.
The statement added that the Joint Task Force continues to work alongside partners to maintain pressure on ISIS and address emerging terrorist threats.
It also emphasized ongoing efforts to reduce “the populations of displaced persons camps and detention facilities holding Daesh-linked individuals in northeast Syria.”
