Syria’s security forces arrest 6 people following car bomb in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – General Security forces of Syria’s transitional government arrested on Monday several individuals wanted on various charges, most of them related to security threats, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A security source told North Press that the operation came as part of a broader security campaign launched after a complete lockdown was imposed on the city of al-Mayadin.

The lockdown followed a deadly car bomb attack that targeted a police station.

On Sunday, three General Security personnel were killed in al-Mayadin when a car bomb struck their unit, in one of the most serious attacks in recent weeks.

The source added that the patrols arrested six individuals, all of whom were previously affiliated with Iranian-backed militias.

Additional raids were conducted in the nearby town of Abu Kamal, resulting in the arrest of drug traffickers and individuals wanted for their roles under the former regime.
