Landmine blasts kill 3 people in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two separate landmine explosions in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, led on Saturday to the killing of tree people.
According to a local source, cousins Mushrif al-Kurdi and Ali al-Kurdi were killed when a landmine—left over from previous conflicts—detonated near the al-Tabni desert in the west of Deir ez-Zor.
“The two young men were on their way to work on agricultural land when the mine exploded,” the source told North Press.
In a separate incident, Ahmad al-Issa was killed after his motorcycle triggered a landmine near former Iranian militia positions on the outskirts of al-Dweir town in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The region remains heavily contaminated with unexploded ordnance, posing ongoing risks to civilians, particularly in rural and agricultural areas.
