U.S. sanctions cessation key step toward Syria’s economic stability – AANES
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement to cease sanctions on Syria, describing it as “an important step that will contribute to fostering economic stability in the country.”
Muhammad Shawqi Muhammad, co-chair of the Economic and Agricultural Board of the AANES, stated, “While we recognize that this process may not be legally straightforward within the framework of U.S. administrative institutions, the decision brings a sense of relief and optimism to all of us.”
In a statement shared via the AANES’s official account, Muhammad emphasized that lifting the sanctions could pave the way for increased capital inflow, particularly from Gulf countries. He noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, among others, may now be positioned to play a key role in Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
He further stressed that it is the responsibility of the Syrian transitional government to seize this opportunity to promote national security and stability.
“This step must be used to engage all components of the Syrian people in rebuilding the country, improving public services, and rehabilitating the devastated infrastructure,” he said.
