Former pro-regime militia leader assassinated in Syria’s Homs

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A former commander in the pro-regime National Defense Forces (NDF), was shot to death on Friday in the city of Homs, central Syria, by unidentified assailants.

According to Syrian media outlets, the attack took place around midday in the Talaat Rakan area of the al-Waer neighborhood, where Adham Rajoub was fatally shot by unknown gunmen.

Rajoub was widely known as a key figure in brokering reconciliation and settlement deals in al-Waer, and was closely associated with the intelligence services of the former Syrian regime.

Originally from the al-Waer neighborhood, Rajoub’s name emerged early in the Syrian conflict in 2011. He was reported to have facilitated the release of detainees in exchange for money, leveraging his close ties with security branches of the Assad regime in Homs.
