Three security officers killed in attack on Syrian Druze city

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Three members of the General Security Directorate were killed and others wounded on Tuesday during armed clashes in the city of Jaramana, south of Damascus, a government source told North Press.

The source reported intermittent gunfire continuing throughout the morning and said the slain security officers were killed while attempting to repel an attack by unidentified gunmen targeting the predominantly Druze city.

Earlier reports confirmed that five people were killed and 12 others injured in the same incident, which involved heavy and sustained clashes around the city.

In a statement, the Druze Spiritual Authority in Jaramana condemned the attack, accusing the assailants of targeting civilians and spreading fear among the local population.
