Blasts of war remnants kill child, injure 4 in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A child was killed and four others injured on Tuesday in two separate explosions caused by remnants of war in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source said that Qusai Ahmad al-Jamal, a 10-year-old boy, died after a booby-trapped device exploded while he was attempting to tamper with it near his family’s home on the outskirts of al-Mujawada town.
In a separate incident, four children from the same family were injured when a rocket, left behind from the conflict, detonated as they were playing with it and attempting to ignite it for fun.
The injured children were transferred to hospitals in Deir ez-Zor city, with their conditions reported to range from moderate to critical, according to the source.
