Syria’s Transitional President announces formation of new government

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced on Saturday the formation of the Syrian transitional government, describing the move as “a declaration of our shared determination to build a new state.”

In a speech at the People’s Palace in Damascus during the announcement ceremony, al-Sharaa emphasized that Syria faces immense challenges requiring unity and cohesion.

He stressed on key government priorities, including fighting corruption. “We will not allow corruption to infiltrate our institutions,” he stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency, and rebuilding state institutions with a focus on education and healthcare.

He emphasized attracting Syrian professionals from abroad to drive development, and efforts to revitalize industry, protect national production, and create a favorable investment climate.

He also noted that the new government seeks measures to strengthen the Syrian currency and prevent financial manipulation, and prioritize citizen protection and national stability.

He highlighted that a new ministry for Sports and Youth was established to empower young people and a Ministry of emergency and disaster management to ensure swift crisis response.

Al-Sharaa affirmed the importance of building a strong military to safeguard Syria.
