Iraqi airstrike kills 3 ISIS militants in western Iraq

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that an airstrike targeted an Islamic State (ISIS) position in Anbar Governorate, western Iraq, resulting in the deaths of three militants.

According to Osama al-Sahlani, Director of Media and Relations at the Military Intelligence Directorate, the strike was conducted by F-16 fighter jets based on precise intelligence information.

The operation is part of Iraq’s ongoing preemptive efforts to prevent ISIS from regrouping and destabilizing the country, the Defense Ministry stated.

In 2017, Iraq declared the defeat of ISIS, with support from the U.S.-led Global Coalition, following more than three years of conflict in which the extremist group seized vast territories across the country.
