Deir ez-Zor residents find bodies of former Iranian-backed militants
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Residents of a town in Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, discovered on Thursday morning the bodies of two local Iranian-backed militants, who had gone missing weeks earlier.
A local source told North Press that residents in the village of al-Dwair found the bodies of Hashem al-Mustafa and Adnan al-Barghouth, both from Abu Kamal in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
He added that the two men had previously served in the Base 47, an Iran-backed force. Their bodies, bearing gunshot wounds, were found discarded in a pit near a former headquarters of Iranian-backed militia.
The source noted that both men had been stationed in Abu Kamal but vanished after the fall of the regime. They were found dead under unclear circumstances, with forensic signs suggesting they had been killed approximately a month ago.
