Qatar set to supply Syria with natural gas via Jordan

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Qatar is set to supply natural gas to Syria via Jordan with U.S. approval, Reuters reported on Thursday citing informed sources.

According to sources, the initiative is spearheaded by the Qatar Fund for Development and aims to aid Syria. Further details are expected to be unveiled at the Deir Ali power station in the Damascus countryside.

Earlier today, Qatar announced a humanitarian initiative to provide Syria with natural gas through Jordan to support electricity generation.

Qatar stated that it will supply Damascus with natural gas for a designated period to help generate electricity, starting at 400 megawatts and gradually increasing, in line with directives from its leadership.

The initiative seeks to alleviate Syria’s severe electricity shortage and enhance the country’s infrastructure performance.
