ISIS militants raid houses in Syria’s Palmyra, kidnap resident

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) militants launched on Wednesday an attack on two houses in the city of Palmyra, Syria’s desert, kidnapping a resident whose fate remains unknown.

According to a local source in Palmyra, armed men dressed in ISIS uniforms stormed the houses of Hassan al-Karim and Jaber al-Qassem in the city center.

The attackers, traveling in a Honda vehicle and two motorcycles, forcibly took al-Qassem and transported him to an undisclosed location while chanting pro-ISIS slogans.

This incident comes just days after Hamid al-Shatri, head of Iraq’s intelligence agency, warned about the continued activity of ISIS sleeper cells in the Syrian desert, highlighting the persistent threat the group poses in the region.
