British delegation visits NE Syria to assess challenges

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A British delegation arrived on Monday in northeastern Syria to assess the region’s challenges and support local political movements.

The delegation, arrived in Qamishli city, included Martin Round, Mayorbof the Borough of Maidstone; Karen Constantine, Councilor and Deputy Leader of the Labour Goup in Kent County Council; Sir Roger Lyons, Ex-President of Trades Union Congress (TUC); and Jason Kaplan, Director of Mid Kent Aviation.

Ihsan Qader, member of the delegation, said the visit aims to assess the challenges and threats facing northeastern Syria while supporting the demands of the region’s people and the Kurdish political movement in light of recent developments.

Qader emphasized that the primary objective of the visit is to closely examine the conditions, challenges, and threats facing the region.

During their stay, the delegation members are scheduled to meet with representatives of Kurdish political parties and other local communities to listen to their concerns and explore ways to convey their voices to the British government.

“This visit aims to build a supportive and positive stance toward the region in particular and Syria in general from our government,” Qader stated.

He further noted that the delegation seeks to understand the demands of Kurdish leaders and local representatives following recent political changes.

“We want to hear directly from them about their positions and what they expect from Britain to help fulfill their aspirations in Syria,” he added.

“Our mission here is to listen to these demands and ensure their messages reach the British government,” Qader affirmed.

Additionally, the delegation aims to assess the region’s economic, cultural, and educational conditions to explore potential avenues for providing meaningful assistance in these areas.
