General Security forces arrest 9 ISIS suspects in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – General Security forces of the caretaker government arrested on Tuesday nine individuals accused of being affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) during a raid in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that General Security forces apprehended nine individuals in the town of al-Naimah on charges of working for ISIS.

Among the detainees was Mahir Youssef al-Aboud, a key suspect accused of orchestrating an attack the day before on the home of a former leader of an opposition faction.

The source added that the General Security plans to establish military checkpoints in the town to reinforce security and prevent further destabilization.

This marks the first major operation by the General Security targeting suspected ISIS operatives in Daraa since the fall of the previous Syrian regime.
