General Security sends reinforcements after attacks in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The General Security forces of the caretaker government deployed on Friday significant military reinforcements in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, and arrested several individuals on various charges.

This came following coordinated attacks on a patrol and headquarters of the General Security in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, which resulted in injuries to five personnel.

A security source from General Security in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that a patrol was ambushed with automatic weapons while attempting to arrest a drug dealer in the city of al-Quriyah, resulting in injuries to three officers.

The source added that a separate assault targeted the General Security headquarters in the town of al-Mayadin, injuring two personnel.

In response to these attacks, authorities mobilized reinforcements and arrested two brothers, Omar and Kroum Khabour al-Askar, in al-Mayadin on charges related to the headquarters assault.

Additionally, Abdul Hamid al-Luqman was apprehended in al-Quriyah on charges of resisting arrest. He is considered one of the most prominent drug dealers in Deir ez-Zor.
