Syria’s al-Sharaa dissolves revolutionary bodies into state structure

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced on Tuesday that he has reached an agreement with both the Negotiation Commission and the Syrian National Coalition to dissolve these bodies as part of integrating revolutionary institutions into state structures.

Meeting at the People’s Palace in Damascus, al-Sharaa welcomed key figures including Badr Jamous, head of the Negotiation Commission; Hadi al-Bahra, leader of the Syrian National Coalition; and Jihad Marai, head of the Syrian tribal councils, who congratulated him on assuming the presidency.

The delegates underscored their support for al-Sharaa and stressed the urgent need for all Syrians—citizens, leaders, and institutions—to unite in facing the challenges of the transitional period.

Moreover, al-Sharaa agreed to the dissolution of both the Negotiation Commission and the Syrian National Coalition.

In an official statement, the Syrian presidency explained: “In accordance with the victory announcement of the Syrian revolution, the delegations have handed over all files related to the Negotiation Commission, the National Coalition, and their associated institutions to the state. This measure is aimed at serving the interests of the Syrian people and strengthening the state under the leadership of the President of the Republic.”
