Unidentified attackers target civilian vehicle with IED in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified attackers detonated on Saturday night an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a civilian vehicle in a town in the east of Homs, central Syria.
A local source from the town of al-Qaryatain, east of Homs, told North Press that the explosion struck the vehicle of a man named Maddah al-Awjan, a resident of the same town.
The IED, planted on the right side of the main road, was detonated as his vehicle passed.
The explosion injured al-Awjan and caused significant damage to his Toyota Hilux. The source suggested that the attack may not have been deliberate, speculating that the IED was likely intended for military vehicles, as al-Awjan’s car closely resembles those commonly used by armed forces in the area.
According to the source, al-Awjan is a trader with no known political or military affiliations.
