SDF launches security operation in Deir ez-Zor, captures dozens
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A military source told North Press on Thursday that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out a security operation targeting armed individuals loyal to the former Syrian regime in various areas of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in dozens of arrests.
The source, a senior military commander involved in the operation, stated that the campaign targeted the towns of Shuhail, Diban, Sweidan, al-Jninah, and al-Ji’ah.
“In al-Ji’ah and al-Jninah, the SDF, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), captured 10 armed individuals accused of collaborating with the former Syrian regime,” the source said.
“Dozens more were arrested in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor,” the source added.
The commander added that those captured will be investigated, and if no evidence of their collaboration with the former regime is found, they will be released.
