AANES calls for international protection of Tishrin Dam

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) called on Monday for the deployment of an international force to safeguard the Tishrin Dam in Manbij countryside, northern Syria.

The AANES warned about the ongoing Turkish shelling of the dam, which poses a severe threat to the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents.

Additionally, the statement emphasized the urgency of establishing a new Syrian constitution through dialogue and negotiations.

In a statement, the Environmental Board condemned the Turkish attacks, highlighting their destabilizing impact on Syria.

The AANES’ statement warned that the destruction of the dam would result in a humanitarian catastrophe. It urged environmental organizations, human rights institutions, and global movements to intervene and halt the aggression.

The statement further emphasized the catastrophic consequences of the dam’s destruction, including severe environmental damage, the displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents, the obliteration of hundreds of villages, and widespread power outages in the region.

The AANES reiterated its call for an international force to intervene and protect the Tishrin Dam, urging immediate action to prevent further escalation and avert a humanitarian disaster.
